Los Angeles Photography Space Makes an Impact on Product Branding and Advertising
“Photography of Los Angeles” a broad request for a photographer, let alone an armature. And yet, with those four little words, an experienced professional would set out to capture the mood or feeling the artist would want to display.
Three white, crisp walls in a rundown building, in the middle of downtown, can strategically display floor to ceiling images on high quality stock paper, with proper focus lighting, serve chilled bubbly in a crystal glass and turn it into an art gallery. Photography has been at the forefront of image branding for decades.
Without a doubt photography rental space in Los Angeles is as easy to find as a gym or a cup of latte. Photography and Los Angeles have been linked since the days of Betty Davis and Joan Crawford. The lights, camera and glamour days. And no doubt things have changed since then, but as much as they do, the more they remain the same. In a different light and with different characters, you can still see the flicker of photographers snapping away at the sight of a famous movie star. Well, let’s not get into the difference between a paparazzi and a skilled photographer, that is best left for a different forum.
Certainly the product, of photography in Los Angeles has made huge improvements in recent years. Imagine what has happened to photography since the mid 1800s when Sir John Hershel came up with the word “photography.” Who would have imagined that the digital camera would bring such diversity in use, and allow for the capability to export, print and alter an image with a computer program? By all accounts, digital cameras and their self-sufficient pinpoint precision only forgot to make a pair of hands to hold them. Not so fast. Technology has no doubt made the art of photography highly precise and sharper than ever, without much twisting and turning of a lens. And the ability to view the image in real time, is a definite plus, saving countless hours of work and retakes for the photographer. But the a camera, even the most sophisticated one, can’t tell a story, can’t capture and render a mood, or brand a product. The art of photography is in the eye of the photographer and not in the lens of a camera.
And that’s why a talented professional can get a text from a publication or client saying “photography of Los Angeles” and would know exactly where, what and what time of the day the shot should be taken. Just by knowing who’s asking for the shot. A talented photographer, knows not only how to work a camera, but also knows how to set a stage, whether in a rented photography space in a Los Angeles studio full of props, or at the ocean, with the horizon as a backdrop. The mind of a photographer is always designing, always setting-up. From the stage his image will come from to the look of the model he may be using. Hair, make-up, and get-up to relate to the item being promoted, be it fashion or detergent. Even while doing a photo shoot for a particular product, the photographer will set a mood to coincide with the image or branding the product wants to reflect.
Photography artists and Los Angeles movie directors work very much in the same way. They call the shots (no pun intended) to deliver a product. Photography hasn’t changed in Los Angeles, only the equipment has.
Photographers still capture a moment in time for families to hand down from one generation to another. They capture the image of a product and bring it to life enticing the senses of consumers for marketing purposes. They capture the image of solitude, or overpopulation in faraway places that would otherwise would never be seen by most. They capture moment of triumph and moments of injustice. And yes, they capture the inopportune image of the rich and famous for entertainment purposes… and make a bundle of money for doing so. Photography is a lucrative profession that lends itself to a variety of settings, and still allows for artistic exposure.
